Valued Government Partners,
NIC recognizes the tremendous responsibility that you are shouldering as government quickly responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact this global health crisis is having on daily life within our communities is unparalleled and, throughout the country, citizens and business are relying on their government to keep them safe and informed. You are doing a remarkable job managing this crisis and sharing essential information to help citizens remain calm.
As your partner, I remain committed to keeping you informed as NIC continues to provide government with essential services throughout this crisis. Our teams across the country have been very methodical as they enhanced our COVID-19 emergency protocols in order to maintain continuity in our networks and services while also keeping our employees safe. After conducting a comprehensive real-time test of our business continuity plan under a full telecommuting protocol to ensure that our procedures would allow employees to continue to provide uninterrupted service, NIC complied with federal and state directives to transition to an almost completely telecommuting workforce.
Rest assured, this necessary transition has not lessened our resolve! The entire NIC team is focused on one objective – helping you serve your citizens and business when they need government the most. Unprecedented online traffic volumes across the US have put an unimaginable strain on our nation’s infrastructure that quickly began to cause issues, and a few of our services have also felt the pressure under this tremendous load. Stability is more important now than ever and I take that responsibility very seriously.
To that end, we have made significant investments to increase capacity and upgrade our equipment to handle this unprecedented level of demand and our teams are working tirelessly to reconfigure necessary systems for maximum efficiency. We are also coordinating with our third-party technology suppliers to quickly mitigate any issues. We understand the essential nature of the service we provide you and your citizens. Both our local teams and our national technology division are in constant communication to proactively prepare for and mitigate any capacity issues that might slow access to the crucial digital government services and information your citizens need.
I have total confidence that our teams will continue to go above and beyond expectations to aid you in keeping government accessible during this crisis. My commitment is that NIC will remain attentive and diligent as we continue to support you and our communities.

Dear Valued Partners,
In times of crisis, we know that there is a tremendous responsibility placed on government officials to maintain order and work diligently to keep citizens healthy, informed and connected to the appropriate resources. NIC is very aware of the critical dependency that our technology provides during this state of emergency. We want to assure you that we are actively monitoring this developing situation as it applies to each state and the agencies we serve. You have my commitment that we are taking the appropriate measures in order to continue to provide you uninterrupted service and assistance during the COVID-19 outbreak.
As the CEO of NIC, I am personally coordinating our COVID-19 response plan to ensure that our teams are equipped and able to continue to provide the necessary online access to government services and information that you have entrusted us with providing. This is an extremely fast evolving situation and we recognize that now more than ever, it is essential that access to digital government services is available.
Over the last several weeks, NIC has been reviewing our various disaster recovery plans and have implemented our Infectious Disease Outbreak Response Procedures. As part of that initiative, we have taken a series of precautionary steps to protect the health of our employees in an effort to eliminate any disruptions in our services to you or the citizens and businesses you serve. These precautions include restricted travel, mandatory sick leave, rotating work from home schedules for our employees, disaster recovery plan testing, increased communications and the reduction of face-to-face meetings. Out of an abundance of caution, we are testing measures to provide complete remote delivery of service for an extended period of time should it become necessary to close our offices.
I do not take lightly the responsibility we have to enable you to meet the needs of citizens. I am grateful for the trust you have placed in NIC and our teams. We are committed to continue to take additional measures to help serve you throughout this evolving situation. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there are areas we can be of greater assistance.
